SUMMARY

  • General Manager (GM) supports the work of the Executive Management focusing on the establishment, monitoring and optimization of the day-to-day operations of the company to meet overall company objectives
  • General Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing the work of the Production Department, Tooling Department, Quality Assurance Department, Sales & Purchasing Department, Maintenance Department, and Materials /ERP Department

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

FUNCTIONAL:

  • Increase yearly sales and profitability to meet established goals
  • Ensure company achieves and maintains ISO/AS certification
  • Ensure products meet customer specifications
  • Ensure Customer Satisfaction
  • Ensure compliance with all customer and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure a safe and friendly working environment
  • Oversees Planning and Allocation of people and equipment necessary to do the job
  • Coordinates establishment of operational processes and procedures, and monitors compliance
  • Establishes and monitors performance goals and standards
  • Maintain current working knowledge of all jobs and functions within the departments reporting to the General Manager in order to provide guidance to lower level supervisors and to ensure appropriate training of all employees on new company policies and procedures
  • Participate in contract reviews
  • Review job costing
  • Back-up sales department as needed
  • Meet and communicate with customers and major raw material suppliers

SUPERVISORY:

  • Manage continuous improvement program
  • Establish and monitor performance reporting systems
  • Advise Executive Management team on key planning issues
  • Facilitate resolution of issues between departments

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Train and advise managers and supervisors
  • Maintain a stable workforce
  • Oversee the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law, by local governing bodies, or by other departments in the organization
  • Work with management team to meet productivity and profitability goals
  • Identify and Evaluate areas of cost reduction potential
  • Advise of potential cost reduction actions available

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or at least 6 years’ experience in operations management in a similar manufacturing environment with two years high level operational management experience
  • Knowledge of ISO & AS standards

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and/or governmental regulations
  • Able to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, customers and the general public

COMPUTER & EQUIPMENT SKILLS

  • Must be proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or similar programs
  • Able to use Global Shop effectively
  • Ability to create and provide requested reports to Executive Management

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

REASONING ABILITY

  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Ability to organize, analyze and delegate job assignments
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize operational problems and implement corrective measures

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Must be willing to travel to off-site meetings, trainings and events
