POSITION OVERVIEW
The BI Analyst II, under the supervision of the BA Supervisor, provides a crucial role in producing business data queries, datasets, and database tables to enable informed decision-making and strategic planning. Strategically bring together data from disparate sources, create and maintain data models, databases, and BI dashboards to support data-driven decision making. Model and code data to create actionable insights.
Effectively collaborate with departmental stakeholders to establish business goals, metrics, and requirements. Translates those specifics into business analysis solutions. Develops reports, visualizations and presentations as well as implementing BI process improvements and optimization.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn our data models thoroughly, to produce foundational datasets and processes
- Collaborate manager to create and maintain fully automated datasets, tables, integrations, etc.
- Build, refine and maintain BI infrastructure (database, datasets, automations, processes)
- Analyze large and small datasets to identify data discrepancies, relationships, meanings, utility, and limitations
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar
- Maintain data integrity and ensure accuracy through data validation and QA
- Independently resolve failures of any data process (loads, transformation, connection, etc.)
- Keep assigned tasks up to date, with deadlines, roadblocks, dependencies, annotations, and status
- Produces and maintains technical documentation such as procedures and technical write-ups
- Help to develop and implement processes for operating efficiently as a BI team
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data solutions
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Skilled building reports/dashboards from scratch
- Advanced SQL skills for data manipulation, transformation, query optimization, performance analysis, and storage
- Able to use error messages to resolve issues with running code or failing jobs
- Experienced modeling data for queries, database design, and reporting tools
- Experience building fully automated data flows (end-to-end)
- Knowledge of foundational database concepts such as primary keys, ERD, indexes, schemas, slowly changing dimensions, row level security, etc.
- Able to produce results and learn data relationships independently
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, or similar
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on data accuracy and integrity
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems
- Ability to explain highly technical concepts in simple terms to key stakeholders and peers
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with DAX, and Power Query for Power BI
- Experience working with any ERP system
- Experience working with python, Microsoft environment, and Power Automate
- Experience working as a member of a highly effective BI team
- Experience building API integrations for data pulls
- Previous experience in foodservice distribution
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or any applicable field
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in data analysis, information technology, or a related field of data management
