Salary : $120,000 — $140,000

Bonus : 12%-15%

We are looking for a highly talented and self-motivated individual with a history of exceptional professional and academic achievement, and demonstrable skill in database application development, including expertise in one or more high-level programming languages, database design/management skills, and the communication skills necessary to collaborate within a small team. We are seeking an individual that is also interested in developing into a small team manager over the course of three to five years with our Company.

Job Qualifications

Candidates will be expected to have the following attributes:

• 5 years or greater professional experience in a Database Application Software Developer role, including experience with developing, testing, and maintaining database applications, and either:
  • A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or
  • More than 10 years of professional experience in a Database Application Software Developer role, including project management experience
• Highly self-motivated, a quick learner, and eager to take on new tasks and learn new concepts and technologies
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrable proficiency in multiple programming languages, including (but not limited to) JavaScript and C#
  • The code generated should be clean, efficient, testable and maintainable
  • In-line comments should adequately explain functionality to other developers
• Experience with software testing, identifying and resolving bugs and issues, and ensuring that applications function correctly
• Experience with database design and maintenance, including performance tuning
• Ability to use SQL for data definition, manipulation, control, and analysis
• Understanding of statistical methods
• Interest and willingness to take on additional responsibilities over time (with compensation adjusted accordingly), including:
  • Project and team management
  • Oversight of third-party IT provider’s infrastructure and security management
  • Coordination with company managers in strategic planning and budgeting
• Although not required, potential knowledge pluses include
  • Object Pascal (Delphi) programming language
  • Report development applications and programming interfaces (e.g. Crystal Reports)
  • OpenLayers Geographical Information Systems (GIS) object framework
  • Agile project management methodology

Job Duties

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Learn our core business methods and attain familiarity with the algorithms that support them within first year of employment and achieve the mastery of the information
• necessary to teach others within three to five years.
• Participate, as part of our small team environment, in our Agile project management process, engaged primarily in the modernization of database application development projects that are currently maintained using unsupported or deprecated programming environments.
• Peer review colleagues’ code and write documentation, both in-code and in our knowledge base.
• Contribute to other (non-programming) department work, including:
  • Database design and maintenance
  • Data ingestion (importing data from files received from vendors, and troubleshooting changes with those processes), analysis and reporting
• Proactively communicate with the IT manager, other application developers and department staff, and stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure successful and timely delivery.
• When issues are reported, leverage strong problem-solving and analytical skills to quickly analyze reported issues and develop effective solutions.
• Use statistical methods, techniques, and tools like SQL to assemble and analyze data, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Keep abreast of the latest technologies and IT industry trends.
• Assume additional responsibilities as directed by Management.
