Location : Fontana, CA
Salary : $150,000 — $175,000
POSITION PURPOSE
The Director of Engineering provides day-to-day tactical leadership of Engineering Departments (Product, Project, Support). Utilizing lean principles, project management expertise and technical knowledge he/she maintains and improves process efficiency, product quality and eliminates waste. This position collaborates with Sales, IT, Production and Supply Chain teams to best serve the customer.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must be able to work in an expansive, highly active multi-site manufacturing environment and learn production processes and resolve issues directly in the production area.
- Embrace the cross-training/learning culture by a willingness to learn other jobs or tasks within the facility.
- Know and abide by company rules and policies with regards to safety and conduct, including the use and maintenance of company provided PPE.
- Flexible schedule is required in regard to overtime and start time according to job requirements. Other duties may be assigned.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to the technical departments (Product, Project, and Support) to ensure the timely, accurate and effective execution of their functions.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing methods and work with cross functional teams to solve product and process issues. Lead kaizen activities to drive continuous improvements in safety, quality, efficiency, and customer service.
- Lead the technical efforts to standardize and continuously improve the Company production system ensuring all engineering and manufacturing documentation is in place, controlled, maintained and utilized.
- Institutionalize lean manufacturing methodology in manufacturing / engineering systems design and operation and develop personnel to effectively operate in a fast paced, growing, distributed, lean operating environment.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor level degree in an Engineering discipline, or
- 10+ years progressive engineering management experience in a high volume, fast paced, Lean Manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of successful Lean Manufacturing implementation (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, SMED, TPM, etc.).
- Metalworking / Hollow Metal fabrication or construction experience
- Proven experience with one or more Design Engineering Systems, CAM, Project Management Systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Proven successful project/program PMI certification preferred.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Project, Excel, PowerPoint) and
- SolidWorks, DriveWorks, Sigmanest proficiencies
- Proficient at root cause analysis, PFMEA and Statistical
