SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
As the Manufacturing Automation Engineer, you will oversee key manufacturing processes, including CNC Machining, assembly, and automation. You will be responsible for evaluating current processes, developing new ways to improve them, and leveraging automated technologies in the manufacturing process. Additionally, you will be a key resource in the startup and optimization of robotic production equipment, planning and designing equipment layouts for the facility and continued operational support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversee key manufacturing processes, including CNC Machining, assembly, and automation
- Evaluate current processes and develop new ways to improve them
- Leverage automated technologies in manufacturing processes
- Plan and design equipment layouts for the facility
- Develop processes for product SKU’s to be added to the new production equipment
- Support daily production schedules through the timely troubleshooting and identifying issues with manufacturing processes and equipment
- Optimize manufacturing processes to improve quality and reduce cycle time
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions and standard operating procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product introduction and process improvement projects
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to manufacturing personnel
- Design and program robotic systems and other automated manufacturing equipment
- Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs for machining operations
- Manage the integration and optimization of manufacturing systems, including automated equipment, software, and data management systems
- Use data analysis, lean principles, and continuous improvement methodologies to drive process enhancements
- Collaborate with quality assurance and product development to ensure that products meet quality requirements
- Develop and maintain effective lines of communication between manufacturing personnel, supervisory personnel, and outside contacts as required
- Develop a preventative maintenance initiative to monitor equipment maintenance and end of life replacement
- Observe and enforce all safety practices while on the manufacturing floor and while running equipment
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role, with a focus on manufacturing processes and automation. Other engineering disciplines will be considered with the appropriate work experience
- Experience with CNC programming and operation
- Experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of automated equipment
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and other manufacturing-related software
- Strong Mechanical Aptitude, knowledge of manufacturing principles, including cutting tool selection and fixture design
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
