Summary
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, and strategic direction of Company’s Purchasing Department. This role emphasizes supplier strategy, vendor governance, and purchasing process discipline while ensuring daily execution is carried out effectively by the Senior Buyer and Buyers. As an onsite leader, the Purchasing Manager combines strategic focus with hands-on visibility, ensuring accountability, cross-functional alignment, and proactive resolution of supply chain challenges.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze and improve workflow and processes within the department, in order to increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Develop processes for the department in conjunction with other internal departments
- Ensure effective use of the ERP purchasing system, establish reporting cadences, and monitor data integrity and PO timeliness
- Oversee vendor governance and performance, ensuring delivery and pricing targets are achieved through structured scorecards and escalation frameworks
- Research potential vendors and negotiate supply agreements for price and delivery on a strategic basis
- Oversee purchasing execution to ensure materials are available to meet production schedules, while monitoring inventory levels through reporting and on-site reviews
- Monitor and oversee inventory levels, maximizing inventory turns through policy and reporting discipline
- Record and assess departmental expenditures, ensuring compliance with budget targets
- Develop and enforce KPI dashboards and structured reporting to track vendor performance, PO timeliness, and departmental efficiency
- Partner with the Quality department to ensure supplier quality requirements are met and escalated as necessary
- Analyze purchase costs, identify cost drivers, and lead strategic sourcing and cost savings initiatives
- Collaborate with Sales and Engineering to identify opportunities to reduce lead times and increase efficiency
- Participate directly in MRB meetings to address non-conformance issues, ensuring supplier accountability
- Participate in planning and scheduling meetings with manufacturing to align supply readiness with financial goals and customer delivery dates
- Oversee coordination of outside processes to ensure timely availability in line with production schedules
- Manage and oversee all activities within the Purchasing Department, delegating tactical execution to the Senior Buyer and Buyers while remaining available for on-site escalation support
- Train and mentor subordinate employees regarding work processes, procedures, company policies, and safety
- Evaluate performance of subordinate employees, and provide or coordinate additional training, coaching, or resources as needed
- Work with Human Resources to identify departmental staffing needs and to resolve employee relations and disciplinary issues

Qualifications
The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required for this position:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Logistics or relevant field
- Five years of related experience, including supply chain, inventory management systems, forecasting, and budgeting processes
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
Language Skills
- Read, write, and speak fluent English
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents
- Able to present information and respond to inquiries from managers, coworkers, subordinates, and vendors
Mathematical Skills
- Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Reasoning Ability
- Able to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form
