JOB SUMMARY 

The Sales & Marketing Manager (SMM) has primary responsibility for ensuring that the HMI sales plan is achieved and will report directly to the Performance Center Director (PCD). The SMM is also responsible for directly managing customers that are generally captive to the Human Machine Interface (HMI) department. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with solid industry background that pro-actively seeks out new markets and new opportunities to drive growth in the Commercial Aircraft and Military Aircraft/Vehicle cockpit, lighted panel, switch and avionic segments. This individual must be experienced in the identification of new opportunities, identifying technology related opportunities which grow the enterprise and engage in sales development. They will also be responsible for developing capture plans, formulating winning proposals and the management of key customers to secure new business in third party repairs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Maintain knowledge of market trends, competitive actions, product needs, and customer base to support sales goals and the HMI (Human Machine Interface) business
  • Research and prepare market analysis for addressable market, segmentation by customer and by geographic region 
  • Development of business and product strategies including defining the value proposition and product differentiation 
  • Development of key markets and market opportunities and once identified develop strategies to win
  • Prepare and present sales & marketing proposals 
  • Perform technical presentation
  • Develop customer contacts and relationships at a working and senior level
  • Negotiate contracts and develop proposals as required
  • Establish sales goals and develop sales plans in coordination with Business Group goals
  • Coordinate with Program Management the preparation of proposals and the execution of contracts
  • Performs some program management functions as required
  • Understanding of the competitive landscape and competitor strategies
  • Represent the Human Machine Interface business and Ducommun at trade shows, conferences, seminars and technical symposiums as required. Travelling as required
  • Proactively identify and implement new tools and process improvements to address changing business needs
  • Maintain and update standard work procedures and documentation for department
  • Work with outside vendors, consultants, and third-party carriers to meet objectives
  • Perform other duties as assigned including leading projects and participation in project committees

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background in cockpit display products, applications and systems, experience with LCD display systems, lighted panels and push button switches
  • Experience with major display primes: i.e., Honeywell, L3, Rockwell Collins, Boeing, Sikorsky, Airbus etc.
  • Experience with major commercial operators: i.e., American Airlines, Delta, FedEx, Lufthansa, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in the development of new applications that are complex in nature and require the utilization of resources across the entire organization 
  • Demonstrated organization skills with the ability to plan itineraries, develop programs, write proposals and meet all monthly reporting requirements while traveling as required
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet competing or short-notice deadlines consistently
  • Motivated self-starter with ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Financial knowledge and background in calculation of ROI, NPV 
  • Previous or current experience in program management
  • Contract administration experience 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • In-depth knowledge of the aerospace market including the aftermarket
  • Ability to utilize business essential tools including CRM
  • Ability to effectively communicate among all levels within the organization
