JOB SUMMARY

  • Reporting directly to the Site Lead/Operation Leader, the Sr. Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for determining the optimal manufacturing methods and processes for producing company products from start-up, building the product line, through satisfactory production. This includes analyzing engineering design documents to establish manufacturing methods and processes to manufacture a component, creating conceptual sketches and initiating the design and building of required tooling.
  • Describes outside vendor services needed for the manufacture of a component.
  • Establishes outsourced vendor manufacturing & quality plans.
  • Roles that drive improvement to product cost, quality and performance by utilizing Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) methodologies should be assigned to this job family.
  • Jobs that provide engineering technical support in this field should be assigned to this job family.
  • Responsible for providing primary engineering support for your assigned departments in the manufacturing operation, including providing problem resolution to manufacturing issues to ensure the strongest processes to reduce variability and ensure ease of productivity.
  • Provide engineering support to ensure manufacturability of existing and new products, maintaining a process strategy, including equipment selection and maintenance, plant layout, tooling and operator training, for your assigned area(s).
  • Additionally, you will be responsible for continuous improvement (Kaizen and Lean manufacturing) to ensure key safety, quality and cost goals are met.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Drive process improvements and ensure appropriate capital equipment and technologies are utilized. 
  • Develop processes, procedures and tooling used to produce final assembly products, related sub-assemblies and new products.
  • Train production personnel as needed on process changes and improvements.
  • Serve as area experts to assist in Kaizens, safety action plans, countermeasures, etc.
  • Drive problem-solving for production related problems
  • Periodically review processing, assembly, and packing methods, procedures and equipment for capability and efficiency of assigned areas.  Develops solutions to improve financial performance or productivity as needed.
  • Support the strategic objectives of the business through special projects.
  • Use lean methodologies to drive to root cause solutions. 
  • Partner with safety to evaluate and improve jobs, workstations, cells for appropriate ergonomic and safety issues.  
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required (preferred areas of study may include: Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Electrical).
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • 4+ years of Lean manufacturing / problem solving experience.
  • 5 years of experience in fixture design
  • 5 years of experience in 3-D drafting software (SolidWorks).
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Broad detailed knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others who to not directly report into role including hourly and salaried employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive for results and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to be adaptable to changing environment.
  • Experienced in manual manufacturing facility.
  • Experienced in FDA regulated facility.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills.
