Summary

The Vice President, Operations directs and coordinates activities of the Engineering, Fabrication, Integration, Material Control, and Scheduling departments, and assists the CEO and Executive team in developing and administering the company’s policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages and oversees all activities within the Engineering, Fabrication, Integration, Material Control, and Scheduling departments
  • Analyzes and improves workflow and processes, to increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the manufacturing operations
  • Participates in strategic planning activities, including analysis of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data, to ensure the company’s continued growth and profitability are in line with the company’s short- and long-term goals
  • Directs and works with Master Scheduler to ensure the production schedule is realistic and achievable
  • Works closely with subordinate managers and supervisors to assess and plan workload in support of the master schedule; adjust plan as needed to meet schedule changes; analyzes staffing needs, and coordinates necessary changes with Human Resources
  • Works with the CTO and Engineering Manager to develop and maintain final testing guidelines, to ensure Company’s products consistently meet or exceed quality standards, and that all Company products are thoroughly tested before being shipped to the customer
  • Trains subordinate employees with regard to work processes and procedures, company policies, and safety
  • Evaluates performance of subordinate employees, and provides or coordinates additional training, coaching, or other resources as needed
  • Works with Human Resources to identify and resolve employee relations and disciplinary issues
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Engineering Manager and subordinates
  • Manufacturing Manager and subordinates
  • Master Scheduler and subordinates
  • Material Manager and subordinates

Qualifications

The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required for this position:

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree or equivalent
  • Five years of related experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Language Skills

  • Fluent in written and verbal English; bilingual English and Spanish preferred, but not required
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Able to present information and respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, managers, coworkers, subordinates, and vendors
  • Able to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to a prescribed style and format

Mathematical Skills

  • Able to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations
  • Able to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis

Reasoning Ability

  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with multiple abstract and concrete variables
