The Continuous Improvement Engineer will be responsible for using Lean tools and best practices to drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence. This individual will work closely with all functions associated with order fulfillment (production, engineering, supply chain, logistics, etc.) to implement and sustain improvements. This position will utilize and coach others on Lean tools such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Standard Work, Pull Systems, Set Up reduction, etc. The CI Engineer will need to possess excellent project management and communication skills. Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization and build consensus for improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, lead time reduction, yield improvements
  • Plan, facilitate and execute continuous improvement events as well as lead long term projects
  • Teach, lead and coach cross-functional teams on Lean best practices and Six Sigma methodology
  • Work to continuously improve processes both on the production floor as well as transactional business process flows by collaborating with multiple functions
  • Partner with Global CI resources to deploy the Company’s Operating System (KOS) principles and meet annual strategic objectives
  • Study operations sequence, material flow, functional statements, organization charts, and project information to determine worker functions and responsibilities
  • Recommends improvements and/or modifications for sequence of operations, equipment utilization and related matters
  • Promote strategy deployment by completing Bottleneck Analysis and Value Stream Mapping
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • BS or BE degree preferably in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Experience leading continuous improvement events and using statistical analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate and influence cross-functionally
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Detail oriented and thorough
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Green belt preferred
  • 2-5 years’ experience in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement
  • Experience with Toyota Production System, Lean, and/or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Suite including advanced skills with Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to work in high pace, changing environment
