Position Summary

The Director of Technology and Innovation is a member of the Senior Administrative team and reports to the Head of School. The Director of Technology and Innovation provides strategic leadership on information and educational technology as well as facilitates significant technology projects, manages and oversees the Technology department operations and personnel to ensure the delivery of robust, innovative and effective technology resources in accordance with the Mission, Core Values, and needs of the School.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Supervise the management of the School’s:
    • network infrastructure
    • cloud servers
    • data information systems (Blackbaud)
    • Blackboard portal (JAGnet)
    • School’s WiFi system
  • Liaise with School’s IT Department and MSP to resolve/troubleshoot wifi or network issues
  • Supervise the 1-1 faculty/student technology devices and software
  • Supervise technology department personnel including the IT Lead, Helpdesk and Educational Technology Coordinators
  • Provide leadership and guidance for educators, staff, administrators, and students as it relates to technology
  • Work with the educational leadership team to develop and implement new ways to integrate technology into the school’s administrative practices and educational curriculum
  • Partner with the educational leadership team to evaluate curriculum and pedagogy in the context of technology education as well as define basic proficiency rubric for all students and teachers from ECC through 8th grade.
  • Partner with various administrators (educational directors, admissions, communications, development, business office) to ensure efficient workflows for school operations
  • Collaborate with administrative team members to ensure consistency and coordination of technology including JAGnet (Blackbaud), EMS, and any other technological platforms that are utilized by administrators or educators
  • Communicate and maintain an active awareness and participation in appropriate professional development opportunities
  • Participate in Senior Administrative, Educational Leadership, and faculty/staff meetings
  • Meet periodically with the Head of School to discuss ongoing projects relating to technology and the use of technology in the school
  • Creates, organizes, and supervises all technology workshops and informs employees of upcoming technology workshops and conferences
  • Provides collegial leadership by mentoring and assisting faculty, staff and administration
  • Assist faculty members to develop and implement strategies to enhance and enrich their teaching through the use of current and emerging forms of technology
  • Ensure faculty, staff and students know the guidelines set by school’s Appropriate Use Policy and models these practices for others
  • Reviews and evaluates new and innovative technology hardware and software as it is developed that may best support SAA’s mission and core values
  • Maintain professional contacts with other schools, associations, organizations, and vendors concerning technology and equipment
  • Working in partnership with the Director of Finance & Operations, oversee and manage the school’s technology budget
  • Purchase budgeted technology hardware and software
  • For complex issues, assign work to contracted IT support company
