Major function
Responsible for the growth of sales, through existing customers and/or prospects, by identifying opportunities and applying or adapting the products and services of the Company to fulfill the opportunities.
Specific duties and responsibilities
- Service existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets
- Identifies current and future customer service requirements by establishing a personal rapport with potential and actual customers and other decision makers within the organization
- Provides product, services, or technical information by answering questions and/or requests
- Obtains product market share information by working with the sales manager to develop product sales strategies
- Gains customer acceptance by explaining or demonstrating product advantages, cost savings potential, or operational improvement gains to be realized through use of Company product or services
- Determine product pricing by utilizing market research data, reviewing product cost, and anticipating sales volume for both standard pricing and special pricing from the vendor
- Monitor the competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques
- Provide information to management by means of short-term and long-term sales forecasts and business plans
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of a four year college degree or five years’ experience in a technical sales position
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills
- Must have a working knowledge of pneumatic and electronic devices, circuits, and controls
- Must be skilled in the operation of the computer
- Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
- Must be able to schedule work hours consistent with customer needs and availability as necessary
